Cool Guesthouses In Tokyo Vol. 2: “toco.”, “nui.”

I'm going to continue to talk about cool guesthouses in Tokyo from last week.

3. toco. Actually, I have already happened to hear this guesthouse's greatness, but I was surprised by its splendor again when I checked this hostel out anew. First of all, “toco.”s building is quite beautiful. It has traditional Japanese style space called Engawa which is on the edge of building. Originally, It works as a corridor, but sometimes it behaves as interaction space like a bench or a terrace because of its being opened toward outside. It looks like the third space which is neither inside nor outside. By the way, “toco.” is a pioneer of cool guesthouses in Tokyo as far as I know. It has already run since 2010. I guess it had to be revolutionary around the beginning of this hostel to provide such high quality and amazing facility with cheap rate like this hostel.

4. Nui. “Nui.” is a sister store of “toco.”. It was opened by Backpackers' Japan as well as “toco.” in 2012. “toco.” was primarily traditional Japanese house whereas “Nui.” was made from renovated old warehouse of toy store, which has unbelievably continued since Edo Period(1603–1868). My most favorite space of this hostel is cafe and bar lounge at first floor. It's really cool. Ceilings are very high, so we can feel much comfortable. And, dishes served there are delicious. According to one staff, many local residents around the hostel routinely use the lounge as a restaurant. Moreover, coffee is also tasty because it's dripped with third wave style.

The guesthouses which I introduced this time may not be necessary for the people who are living in Tokyo, but I recommend to try staying there even though you are citizen of Tokyo. Maybe, it touches your heart of a traveler.

By the way, some people may have some questions something like this - “Why you are trying to stay at many guesthouses? Don't you have enough money?”

The reason why I'm trying like this is that I'm looking for new lifestyle in Japan. Actually, I decided to live in Fukuoka and go to Tokyo for some business meetings almost once a month. Then, I thought that staying at a guesthouse is better than staying at a commercial hotel because there are many tourist from overseas at every guesthouse. I can expect some chances to speak English there, and almost all facilities are clean, and the rate is amazingly cheap. I can't find the reason why I don't stay there, so I stayed some guesthouses for finding coziest place last time.

Actually, I have been looking for best hostel yet, but I'd like to make new lifestyle of mine if I find good accommodation.

Anyway, I hope you go there and enjoy its greatness. I can't perfectly explain the hostel's loveliness with only words.
