Local Restaurant in Fukuoka “Tempura Hirao”

Tempura Hirao

Last week, I went to a restaurant named “Tempura Hirao”. I guess that many Japanese gourmets know this restaurant. “Tempura Hirao” is famous for freshly-fried tempura which is served over the counter. I think that its style similar to Kushikatsu restaurant in Osaka.

Hirao's sales point is the price of dishes. You can get some change from ¥1,000(≒ $8) even if you eat some food until being full. For example, in the case of Tempura Teishoku which is a basic set in the eatery, there are 3 kinds of fishes, 3 kinds of vegetables, rice, and miso soup in the set. Amazingly, the set's price is only ¥720(≒ $6), and a Japanese dipping sauce and rich grated radish are served for the dish. Moreover, there are 4 kinds of all-you-can-eat prepared foods such as Ika-no-Shiokara (cuttlefish pickled in salt), Konbu-no-Tsukudani(simmered kelp in sweetened soy sauce), Daikon-no-Nimono(simmered daikon radish), and Moyashi-Namul (Korean dishes consisting of sprouts).

By the way, I hadn't known this tempura restaurant which looks like paradise. In retrospect, I went to Tokyo as soon as I graduated high school, so I'm not familiar with good local restaurants and bars because high school students don't often go to eating place in Japan.

I'd like to know good eateries in Fukuoka more. So, if you know some good places, please let me know them. I'll continue to introduce a local good restaurant to you guys each time that I know a new shop.

P.S.

I realized that I missed to take a picture of tempura while I was writing this article. So, there are no pictures of tempura here, sorry.
